Farsky Game
Dear fellow FarSkyers,There's literally no modding community on this game whatsoever.I've heard that some people are re-texturing some parts of the game, but NO mods out there. This game has soo much potential and I'm enjoying the game so much, It would be a shame if nothing happens.I've also heard that this is it, no more updates or anything. Which is a shame, this game has (Like I've already stated) so much potential and if nothing happens - It would be a great shame. The game just needs the right community, thats all.I've literally got a list of what could be added. Originally posted by:I would love it if people could mod the game, but I think we'd have to get the developer to release the sourcecode for that to happen on a large scale.Meh, I think this is more about the fanbase than the developer. There are old games that got mods and new content updates by fans, when the game had zero support for mods.
You just need enough people as fans, and some that find it fun to actually mod/tinker with it, to create stuff. There are great tools out there that let you decompile code. That being said, if the dev had some foresight, making the game moddable from the beginning, and also creating and releasing tools to make it easier, than that would have inspired more people to create mods.especially people that wouldn't know how to decompile and hack stuff in. Would have probably helped sell the game more as well. Great list of ideas and I'll chime in and agree that this game has a lot of great re-play potential with some added features and more exploration incentives. While the sandbox aspect of building could sustain it with a few more building modules / materials / furnishings, etc.
Oh and taking some ideas from one of my favorite underwater construction RTS games: Anno 2070 Deep Ocean has some fantastic ideas that could be modified into this game such as underwater oil rigs, geothermal energy plants, algae and coral farming. You could turn this into a game as diverse as a RTS game, but as fun and sandboxy as Minecraft / Planet Explorers.EDIT: 6-7 hours later, completed Adventure mode and can say the 2nd biome (deep 250-350m) is very close to what I was thinking of in the suggestions I made in my previous reply. It's deeper, weirder looking and has steam vents, etc. Kraken and other unfriendlies add to the atmosphere - it's great! Now - just expand on that a little with new stuff to explore at that depth. Caverns, strange ruins or shipwrecks you can go inside - that would rock and encourage a lot more deep diving. The incentive to get manganese equipment should be a larger reward for exploration at that depth.Great little game, really enjoyed it and will probably try Survivor mode now.
